On February 10, 2012, not so far from Jupilles village, Vicard Cooperage
organized a demonstration of cut of oaks in the forest of Bercé.
The stages of pruning, cutting and unlading made it possible to the people present to discover noble and crucial work loggers for the manufacture of barrels of great quality.
Moreover, two persons in charge of the ONF (National Office of the Forests) were present to explain the management of the french forests and to describe the characteristics of the parcel acquired by Vicard Cooperage.
The techniques of purchase and estimate of wood were reported by the person in charge of the wood purchase in Cooperage, as well as the policy of selection of the grains. A person of the INRA (National Institute of the Agronomic Research) presented his work, in partnership with Vicard, regarding the genetics of the oaks, in order to ensure a better traceability of wood, from forest to winery.
This day, at the same time instructive and convivial, was a success, in particular with the splendid view offered by the snow.
