NEW STAVEYARD: HEADING TOWARDS 100% SELF-PROCUREMENT
To reach the objective of total control over supplies and to guarantee the quality of production, Vicard has purchased a third staveyard, C2R, located in the Haute-Vienne area. Currently being integrated into the Vicard Group, it has annual production capacity of 2,000m3 of stavewood, or around 22,000 barrels.
With this added expertise, the cooperage should be able to reach a 100% self-procurement level by 2010.
OPTIMIZED TRACEABILITY: TAKING EXPERTISE EVEN FURTHER
From tree to log and from stavewood to cask, Vicard has computerized the traceability of each and every stage in transformation, manufacture and delivery.
As well as the traceability requirement, our data directory is a priceless technical tool since it allows us to compare peripheral information such as the rainfall rate against wood drying.
Thanks to these cross-checks we are able to progress our expertise further and further and ensure even greater mastery of all the parameters involved in the manufacture of barrels and their suitability to the wines of our clients.
EXTENSION OF THE WOOD YARD: A STRATEGY FOR THE FUTURE
Vicard is investing in the upturn! Banking on an upturn in the market over the next two years, the cooperage is investing in wood purchases. As the 100% natural drying process is one of our distinctive features, the company is to extend its wood yard in the second half of the year, bringing it up to a size of 8 hectares.
As drying times range from 24 to 36 months, Vicard intends to make this investment a profitability driver and is calmly planning for the return of growth.
